Mathematics Department
ObjectivesOur Mathematics curriculum aligns with the MOE’s Mathematics Curriculum Framework, placing the Mathematical Problem-Solving pentagon at its core. Our primary objectives are to:
|
Approach1. Activity-based Learning By using manipulatives and EdTech tools, teachers engage students in constructing meaning from their prior knowledge and guide them to visualize abstract mathematical concepts. Students are also given opportunities to apply Math concepts to problems in real-world context. 2. Inquiry-based Learning Metacognitive strategies (using the AMR approach) are used to guide students to connect new ideas with what they already know and deepen students’ learning. Students engage in communicating, explaining and reflecting on their answers. Students also learn to pose questions and process information. This will enhance the development of mathematical processes and 21st century competencies. 3. Balanced Assessment Approach

ProgrammesOffer of Elective subjects Upon completing Secondary 2, students demonstrating strong mathematical proficiency may advance to study Additional Mathematics in Secondary 3. Alternatively, those with an interest in Commerce can opt for Principles of Accounts (POA) or Elements of Business Skills (EBS) during their Upper Secondary years. Mathematics Competitions To complement their classroom learning, opportunities are provided for students to take part in external competitions to enhance their learning:
